I understand how the left looks to government for the solution to every problem, but it always surprises me that quite often the conservative right does as well.

The real problem with abortion, is not the law, or a particular politician’s stance, it is with the moral education of the people. It should not be the government’s role to educate people on morals. And moral education will not come from implementing laws. In fact in our system of government, laws come AFTER the moral education of most of the people. This is why the laws on abortion vary greatly now from state to state - the moral education of the people (or put another way, the moral lacking of the people) varies greatly based on geography.

Decrying a particular politician’s stance on a moral issue will not advance the moral education of the people of the country.

If you want to solve the problem, think about how we can educate the majority of people to see the value and dignity in all human life. (And no, converting everyone to Catholicism is not the answer.)

Then what is the "source material" for moral education?
