Did you notice that ATT visiphones never sold? There are phone and desktop apps that allow camera and other ‘artificial reality’ interaction. But the earliest camera phones never sold.

They were not cost prohibitive, either. The infrastructure for wired communications would have grown much faster, which was the reason why the CRT based visiphone was to be affordable. No one bought them, although now there are few businesses that could get along without conference call apps.

We want to be in person with those to whom we are attached. A visiphone did not improve long distance communication with them enough to make the difference. The desktop apps are for our material gains and better profit margins. Seeing loved ones in long distance communication is just a bonus.

Isn’t this backwards? Doesn’t it appear to be then part of a world turned on it’s head? The psychosis of “Reefer Madness” is not built by the communication technology but rather the technology spectrum is produced by the psychosis.

But He remains within us and can overcome all. He already has conquered sin and death. I’m certain a phone outage doesn’t affect prayer, but hopefully in the start of another Lenten season the one that did happen has increased prayer. Maybe there should be more unplanned outages?
