What a beautiful response to a truly catastrophic situation. The fact that you've arrived at this conclusion and live it is a beautiful expression of God's grace working in your life, and blessing us to boot. Just last evening I watched the 1975 movie "The Hiding Place" about the Ten Boom family who were imprisoned in Nazi labor camp for hiding Jews in Holland during WWII. The love that the sisters *chose* to believe in, the love of Christ, despite the unimaginable terror surrounding them on all sides, was nothing short of miraculous. Who amongst us wouldn't be tempted to give in to that hatred for our apparent enemies?! In reality, who doesn't deserve exactly that kind of persecution because of our sins? We don't want to contemplate the horror of sin, especially our own, especially if it's grave. In the movie, Corrie Ten Boom is portrayed as having to conquer her own hate for the Nazis and their cruelty; her own sister helped her, encouraged her, reminded her to love. Forgive. She said, paraphrasing, "there is no pit so deep that God is not deeper still " They shined the light of Christ in a place that needed it, and brought many to belief (and comfort, and hope) because of it. Would that we all could behave like that in our daily circumstances with petty annoyances. Starting there, we'll be better equipped to fight the major demonic forces that will come and are already here.
