The False Request: Leave Trans Kids Alone
If only Beto O'Rourke and his bedfellows would do what they claim.
Former Congressman, Beto O'Rourke, is now seeking the position of Texas governor. In an attempt to gain attention for his ‘bravery’ in a social circle that lauds degeneracy as hip, he posted a picture of himself on his Twitter account:
His T-shirt, which takes the famous slogan “Don’t mess with Texas” and attempts to warp it into a child abuse rallying cry, was cheered by the expected parties. However, what would it mean if he embraced his own slogan, really? What if adults like him stopped “messing” with children who believe themselves to be transgender, and who therefore have been severely confused or are actually mentally ill?
The vast majority of so-called transgender children, when truly left alone, grow out of gender dysphoria. Yet, when such children are started on hormone therapies instead of being allowed to develop naturally, they fail to progress beyond it. The gender dysphoria becomes a permanent condition. In what hitherto was obvious enough to be superfluous: Drugging children is harmful and prevents them from developing normally.
If we left the kids alone, then people like Beto O’Rourke wouldn’t advise such children they were made incorrectly, and that it’s thus the appropriate action to deny themselves. Society wouldn’t be telling kids that they have more value and credibility when they pretend to be what they are not. It’s appropriate that we have pity on those who look in the mirror and struggle with their reflection, but the moral (and honest) response is to assure them of their innate worth, not to join them in their despair or to implore them to revel in it.
If we didn’t “mess with trans kids”, then we would not put such children on drugs that have life-altering consequences. American society decided that children were not developed enough to deal with the effects of alcohol until age 21. Internationally, the common age thereof is 18. Yet, hormone-blocking drugs are being given to children at the onset of puberty, when such children are deemed too young to get driver’s permits, because inadequate brain development leads to poor decision making. Hormone blockers, which permanently impact development, are increasingly provided without parental consent. Then, when the child then does not grow to accept his real sex, because his healthy development has been halted, this is used as “proof” that the child was obviously inherently flawed, necessitating further drugs and perhaps mutilation. This isn’t “leaving kids alone” as Beto would attempt to rewrite the narrative. It’s a widely accepted form of child abuse that is condoned by a society that is too cowardly to acknowledge basic truth enough to protect its most vulnerable.
If we were to not “mess with trans kids”, then we wouldn’t parade them before audiences of pedophiles, that they might perform like sex objects, to be doused with cash in exchange for the surrender of their innocence.
If we cared about leaving children alone, we wouldn’t have men dressed as the most audacious caricatures of harlets, reading books about various sexual deviancies before crowds of toddlers. Yet, these horrendous functions, euphemistically titled “trans story hour” instead of “Child Grooming Hour” take place inside of libraries, churches, and schools — the very places that we once considered sanctuaries for our young.
This isn’t “not messing with kids”, it’s actively exploiting them and dressing the grooming process in a veneer of virtue.
If we opposed “messing with” kids, we wouldn’t mutilate them. Yet, this is the direction of the modern social climate, which seeks to claim piety during a time of egregious abuse that rivals the forced sterilization of yesteryear. Ice pick lobotomies were once considered acceptable medical treatments, done to fix what was “inherently wrong”, when nothing was wrong. Now we rightly recall such a time with condemnation, but those who look back with mockery ignore just how easily we can embrace similar evils.
If Beto and his ilk want to join those of us who do not want to mess with children, then they should stop reinforcing their greatest fears. The transgender fad is but a more extreme form of what all teenagers feel: a lack of belonging. That sense of not fitting in is magnified, which allows abusers to tell such children that all of their fears are true: they will never fit in, they were made wrong, they must deny themselves and pretend to be something else to have value. This is an ideological movement that requires destroying the self-worth of those that it claims to help. Don’t be afraid to call evil for what it is.
Point well made Sarah, with your usual eloquence.
In reference to Beto O'Rourke T-shirt, I would not dream of messing with Trans-Kids. I would simply submit that kids are not able to make a rational, irreversible decision about their gender. We need to sympathize with kids suffering body dysmorphia, not put them on puberty blockers. That is a serious medical decision. Moreover, we should not be encouraging children to make decisions that they cannot reverse. If we don't allow them to make certain contracts or even hold children responsible for criminal acts, then changing gender should not be under a child's control. If that is what Beto O'Rourke is campaigning for, then he is the one messing with trans-kids, and he should stop it.
