Sarah - I have only listened to Church Militant a couple of times in the past and found that I wished to devote my prayer time elsewhere. But I loved what you said here: "They are Catholic because they believe that to be so is to serve Christ in the best way possible because it is to join the Church that He founded and that the Holy Spirit guides. It is to practice the Christian Faith as it was supposed to be practiced and has been since the Apostolic Age." There have been times in the past 30 years when we (my wife and I) have talked about leaving the church over the abuse scandal and other issues..... but knew deep down in our hearts that we had nowhere else to go.... and your quote sums up our feelings perfectly. Thank you again for another well written article.

Voris was a homosexual and most likely still is although perhaps not practicing. He promoted himself as a conservative Christian who was very concerned about the Vatican and the liberal influence on Christianity. I believe he was making an effort to be sincere but past behavior will continue to haunt him. Redemption is a Christian belief and should be applied to Voris in his private life but he did the right thing by resigning.

I share your disappointment. I attended a presentation he gave in Baton Rouge, hosted by the Louisiana Strong organization at Jefferson Baptist Church in 2013 , ostensibly about the infiltration of Saul Alinsky into local politics but to the shock of the audience, he focused on the betrayal of Catholic Church teachings by clergy who bought into Alinsky's movement and other progressive errors. It was riveting to say the least! I thanked him after his talk. I hope he can rebound.

Nicely written Sarah!

There is a never-ending list of men that were attracted by the limelight and became narcissists, ending up in total failure.

It is my belief that the "limelight" is the devil's work. It's a trap set by the evil one for those that influence others in a positive manner to the faith as MV did with you Sarah.

As Catholics, we need to forgive those that fail, and we need to pray for all of us, that we do not get trapped as well, because of our own self-righteousness.

E. Michael Jones wrote a book after MV’s duplicity was outed once before, as he had direct knowledge of events and did try to counsel him to deal with his narcissism. Let’s hope MV is sincere in keeping out of the limelight this time while he does the deep spiritual work which could take the remainder of his lifetime.

How long ago did you convert to Catholicism?

If you don't mind me asking - do you consider yourself Traditional, Novus Ordo, or some other path?

Did you post your conversion story on your substack?

Thanks for your time and all your hard work here.

God bless!

Hey Mac, I was formally received into the Church in April 2022, after enrolling in RCIA in 2021. I don't think I've ever written my full conversion story, just different bits of it attached with various articles, because it's an important part of who I am today, so it tends to permeate into so much of what I think about.

I have a preference for the Latin Mass, and I try to go at least once a month, but my home parish is a better-than-most Novus Ordo. I consider myself more traditional. I wear a veil, receive kneeling on the tongue, etc.

Mac - I am blessed to attend Mass and Eucharistic Adoration with Sarah and she has become a driving force in our parish during these past 18 months after being received into the church.
