I'm glad you pointed out about executive orders "triumphing over evil" only until the next Democratic president comes along and signs a new order against it. As happy as everything Donald Trump is doing makes me, I can't help but think that this good is only temporary good. I wish there were a way to cement executive orders so that we could have at least a modicum of protection for the next time the Democrats come around...
You're absolutely right. The only way to maintain changes is to codify them in law. I think the administration is doing the right thing now. I'd call it Phase 1. Phase 2 must be applying pressure to Congress to pass laws to make sure the fixes stick.

My wife and I were able to rebuild but not everything was restored You are correct: it's a permanent struggle to avoid laxity.
