Excellent article, Sarah. As always, you make me think. I see a society that has lost the ability to dialogue. Not debate precisely, but just having a conversation with someone that has a different point of view. Sadly, as soon as we determine that the other person is "not like us", we raise up our shields, block our collective hearing, and we engage in battle until we draw blood.
