The most erroneous assumption is to the effect that the aim of public education is to fill the young of the species with knowledge and awaken their intelligence, and so make them fit to discharge the duties of citizenship in an enlightened and independent manner. Nothing could be further from the truth. The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent, thought and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever the pretensions of politicians, pedagogues and other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else.

I grew up in Detroit and let me tell you .... a LOT of families are broken. Many have no fathers in the household. Many have working mothers who are hardly home. When I was living in Detroit in the 70's and 80's I was hard pressed to find a Detroit girl who did NOT have a kid by the time she was 16.

Instead of abolishing the family, maybe we should look at FIXING THE FAMILY. Families are strong when they have both a biological father AND mother living in the same house, preferably married, with the father working full time. Families are best served when the mother cares for the children while the father works.

Of course, this model can change up as needed. Father stays home and mother works full time. But the point is, 2 parent households like this are capable of providing stability. In addition, there are relatives such as grandparents who play an IMPORTANT ROLE.

We have to be careful when they talk about abolishing the family. I have a gut feeling the replacement would be having your children raised by the state. Children need to be raised by those that brought the INTO this life. Not by strangers. Not by the state. Not by "friends as family." They need to be raised BY FAMILY.

And yes, families are NOT PERFECT. They have problems. But it's better to face those problems AS A FAMILY rather than throw the whole concept of what a family is OUT and allow the state or some other foreign entity raise your children.

We would do well to look at strengthening the family. Grandparents are an excellent resource for helping to raise children and helping to manage families. Why don't we get back to strengthening these relations inside the family rather than looking to destroy the family altogether.

You speak wisely. I have heard it said that the best thing a father can do for their children is to love their mother.

The University of Pennsylvania should subtitle the course, "The Bokanovsky Process" and list Aldous Huxley as a reference.

Raining homosexuality upon our youth, and pushing gender dysphoria, particularly among young boys, is an evil of the highest magnitude possible. Brainwashing young girls into thinking family and motherhood is merely an inconvenience, and that childbirth can simply be made to disappear at the hands of a so-called "doctor" is both sick and evil. Then to follow up by using the "tissues" from the murdered baby for medical science and ingredients in "vaccines" is an unthinkable atrocity.

Perhaps, we need to check the credentials of the people making these courses. They probably had a bad childhood and are working on making their experienced the norm. Useful idiots for the devil.

Family is the biggest requirement for societal stability. Its erosion is the biggest requirement for societal destabilization. It's no surprise that academic mouthpieces are pushing this. Great article, as always. Keep it up. What's done in the dark will be brought to the light.

The moral vacuum in broken families often gets filled by cults and gangs. Does the university seriously argue that either provides a better alternative, or that collective daycare produces better children than nuclear families? As a sociology department, they have ample evidence to refute these claims. I can only conclude that they are intentionally dishonest.

This reflects the ridiculous thought process that man can control his own destiny in life. This feeble attempt at refuting what God has ordained will only lead to grater chaos in the lives of others. I speak from experience. At 67 I have seen people implement this philosophy many times. It only resulted in total mental and emotional trauma along with spiritual confusion when they try to reach out for help, usually after 20 or more years of pain. The Northeast has long been a reflection of the socialist's thought process f which this is. Many times I have debated against this philosophy but people who have been socialists for a long time will argue they are right even when they know they are not in their heart. Sad but a reflection of what the bible says will be during the last days before Jesus returns. Prayer is all that can help these individuals at this time

Thank you Joe, I am 85 and have seen this same thing, way too often and I am in the Southwest! We need our families. Yes, we are not perfect, but like some else said how about have classes on Fixing the Family, instead of further working to destroy it!
