It was not always this way. In an environment where Christianity permeated society, death was seen in a healthy and even 'yearnful' view because Hope in God was primary in a person's life. It is only when God is not within the fabric of society or in one's own life, that death is a somber and feared notion. Everything a person chooses to do is based on his/her understanding of Freedom within a Moral Order, or not.
