I found this very difficult to understand and accept. I suppose it is a generational thing and the fact that I do not understand the 'Intellectual' ethos. Left alone most of us are a mixture of liberal and conservative ideas, often depending upon our personal experiences. One problem is that as a society we are continuously bombarded with images that should be exceptional rather than ordinary. Secular society, for no other reason than control through power, has effectively taken God out of our collective lives, denuding us of the ordinary discipline of respect - for ourselves and others. True happiness is not generated through excitement, but through Love and to love we must engage with others. We know when we arrive at a healthy place, for it is accompanied by Peace - the first gift of the Holy Spirit.

Your ideas are on point, as usual. I’m not familiar with Lauren Southern but your comments can reach beyond one person’s biography. Thank you for your thought and promoting ours.

Sarah, thank you for this article. I was first introduced to Lauren Southern when I had question some years ago regarding the quote-unquote scandal in Canada with the Catholic Church and the slaughter of countless children. Father Robert McTeigue, S.J. (my good friend) recommended Lauren Southern, the documentarian who researched this topic and found it to be a total fraud. She has covered many topics and I became a immediate fan sending my support. Soon after, because she grew tired of the world, which Sarah briefly describes, she checked out choosing a more domestic lifestyle. I listened to a beautiful testimonial by Lauren Southern where she describes many of these big name individuals and her regrets. Because of this article, I am encouraged to seek her out again with hopes of sharing support again. I agree with others, well written and yes, captivating narration. Your voice draws one into the conversation. Bravo !

I was going to push back on a couple of minor points until I got to the final two paragraphs, where the ultimate takeaways from this well-written piece are contained. None of the political minutia which provided the fodder for this article matters. Center our lives on Christ, forgive and seek forgiveness, and repent with sincere contrition. We have to practice the seven cardinal virtues to avoid becoming that which we despise...no matter the difficulty. We'll done as always, Sarah!

Right or Left. We need to think before we speak or act; say a PRAYER, and think again! Our SILENCE can be deafening!

Good article, some of the discussion brought to mind an old Ricky Nelson song, Garden Party, where he sings about the trouble of trying to change his brand, so to speak, and the audience's unwillingness to allow for it.

Extreme behavior and extreme views are being rewarded both in the media and on social media. All except anyone on the right, of course. If you have solid conservative views, suddenly you're too extreme for the "party of tolerance.".

The politicians making the biggest splashes are those whose behavior and views are so extreme as to be borderline psychopaths or sociopaths. Maybe not even so borderline.

The effect on society is that values get constantly degraded to the point where morality sits on a spinning compass. The real life effect is the liberal movement has adopted a policy whereby they can literally do any they want and justify it simply by being on the left. No logic or rational thought needed. But if the right does the same thing, they're demonized as Nazi villains.

The real battle we face is being able to tell right from wrong. Sexual assault and rape are wrong. But import a group of people who further your political aims and suddenly the fact that these same people have a cultural normalcy of rape and sexual assault and now presto magic rape and sexual assault from these people is suddenly ignored. In fact, if you call these people out and report the facts, you're suddenly a racist Nazi.

Don't underestimate the impact this is having on our society and western culture. Those of us who are older can still tell the difference. But there's an entire generation growing up where this is being normalized. That's the true danger.

And anyone in the public eye who pushes these extreme views coupled with an ambiguous moral compass are actively destroying our culture and civilization.

Just look at the UK. Human trafficking is off the charts, and police refuse to investigate real crimes or go after grooming gangs. But if you point this fact out, you are suddenly the criminal.

The balance to these extreme views is freedom of speech. True freedom of speech that allows groups to engage in healthy debate and dialogue. Much the same as what Charlie Kirk was doing.

Just a comment. The Catholic Church condemned freedom of speech. Pope Leo XIII addressed freedom of speech in his 1888 encyclical Libertas, where he emphasized that while individuals have a right to freely and prudently promote truth and honor, unbridled speech and press freedom are not absolute rights. He argued that such liberties must be moderated to prevent the spread of falsehood, moral corruption, and societal ruin, stating that “license will gain what liberty loses; for liberty will ever be more free and secure in proportion as license is kept in fuller restraint.”

Pope Pius IX condemned absolute freedom of speech and worship in his 1864 encyclical Quanta cura, particularly through the Syllabus of Errors, which rejected the idea that individuals have a natural right to express any opinion publicly without restraint, calling such views dangerous to both religious and civil order.

Yes. Whenever I do Natural Law speeches, I emphasize that the concept of freedom of speech has been distorted away from its rightful understanding as the duty to speak that which is true.

Happy to hear that Sarah. Particularly since the conciliar church accepted the "right" to freedom of speech although it had been condemned (rightly in my opinion).
