Modern society treats judgment as a sin and prejudice as a crime. But without them, we lose all standards, and even justice itself. Theodore Dalrymple saw this decay firsthand. We cannot reject all prejudices, but we can choose the right ones.
In order to survive, society discriminated. If the tribe close to you wanted to kill you, rape your women and sell your children into slavery, men had to discriminate or die.
Equality is impossible for the obvious reason that people have different levels of ambition, talent, determination, moral standards, etc. Rather than trying desperately to somehow force equality on society, one can try to promote a feeling of respect of differences, sometimes called unity in the midst of diversity. At the moment, we are failing at that task.
I found myself being investigated for doing the right thing, my wife has always said that no good deed goes unpunished I was ignored not refused when I made several requests for the opportunity to give a statement or interview I believe it was due to not wanting to be called racist I have lost my entire 40 years perfect professional career and I know it is hard to believe I didn't have any interactions with a single person until I was stood in front of the judge I never thought it was possible to be treated like this by a public office is it the country we live in today..?, I think it might have been different if could have afforded the legal team that had the technical knowledge to understand what I was saying it was the same for the investigation team they didn't want to know what I was saying they were pushing the narrative that two innocent minority people were taken in by an unscrupulous professional tradesmen but I had no criminal past no incidents during my career employed with some of the biggest high profile utilities companies around the world with the highest qualifications obtainable in my field, I was never cautioned, met with anyone in the investigation, had all the information that I gave left out and complaints turned down due to a backdated deadline I have made several foi requests refused and found nobody gives a dam about truth, right or wrong to be honest I don't think I would be here still if I didn't have a wife and children justice doesn't mean anything anymore in our country unless you're in a minority group and you use the race card but what about the victims who have no voice after all white and middle aged it isn't possible for me to have racist abuse so I'm told, I'm trying to find others who've had a similar story but I can't find anything, maybe it's just me..!,
Thanks for listening to my ranting it'll never happen to me famous last words
One has to be able to tell right from wrong. This means being able to see one's actions clearly and make s judgement about them. Too often in today's world, the word tolerance is being used to get people to not to judge one's actions.
Tolerance means the acceptance of all types of behaviors regardless of their immoral outcomes. All you have to do is look at what's happening in Europe. In the UK, illegal immigrants are now legally held to a different standard of behavior than legal citizens. If you're an illegal, you can lie, cheat, steal, assault someone, even commit murder and or rape with very, very little consequence.
However, if you're a citizen and you post a meme to social media that questions the government, you can be put in jail for an unreasonably long time and have your entire life ruined.
Not being able to see the truth of what's going on is having lost the ability to see and judge clearly. It's losing the ability to distinguish right from wrong, good from bad, or justice from injustice. It makes laws irrelevant and life turns into a type of chaotic tyranny that makes no logical sense.
THANK YOU for this awesome article...which has, so sadly, an uncommon viewpoint in today's world.
Well written, as always Sarah!

Your article describes society as it should be

Writer CK Chesterton (Father Brown Mysteries) said something like, Tolerance is the virtue of those who don't believe in anything.
